Description

Lovely to meet you, my name is Italian Prune Plum. I am best known for my large purple-blue sweet and juicy plums which I grow in abundance from late summer to early fall. My fruit is excellent for many different uses - cooking, baking, drying, canning, freezing, or eating right off of my branches! Before my fruit appears, my branches become smothered in stunning lcusters of fragrant white flowers in the spring. I require occasional maintenance, and look my best when I am pruned in late winter once the threat of extreme cold has passed. I tend to be a little bit messy when my fruit drops in the late fall, and can be prone to disease. I am happiest, healthiest and most beautiful when I am grown in full sun and my soil is kept moist - since I am so tolerant of urban pollution, I also like to be grown right in the city!
