How To Re-Use Our Cardboard Packaging In Your Garden

At Landscape Direct, it is extremely important to our company values to promote sustainability measures to help protect the environment and reduce waste. That is why our cardboard packaging is recyclable and made from 100% recycled materials. To further promote sustainability measures, we want to share some creative ideas of how to re-use our cardboard packaging in your garden!

One unique way gardeners can re-use our cardboard packaging is as a weed barrier. When gardening and planting, you can place the cardboard underneath soil and mulch to help prevent weeds from growing. This not only suppresses weeds, but also retains moisture and eventually decomposes, thus enriching the soil. You can also use cardboard in composting as it acts as great “brown” material, providing carbon to balance the nitrogen-rich "green" materials like kitchen scraps.

Another creative way to re-use cardboard in a garden is to use it as plant protection. Cardboard sheets or boxes can cover more fragile plants during unexpected extreme weather conditions or intense sun. You can also use cardboard underneath raised garden beds as a lining that helps suppress weeds and grass as it decomposes over time, enriching the soil.

Finally, cardboard can be used for garden art projects such as making decorative signs, plant markers, or even small garden figurines that add a fun and magical touch to your outdoor space, especially perfect for kids.

These ideas not only help in reusing materials but also contribute to sustainable gardening practices and reducing waste. We encourage our customers to try some of these methods in their own gardens as we continue to actively explore more eco-friendly alternatives for our packaging.
