Le hêtre obélisque rouge est un superbe arbre à feuilles caduques au port étroit et colonnaire qui peut ajouter de la hauteur et de l'intérêt à n'importe quel paysage. Son feuillage commence par un violet foncé au printemps, puis mûrit en un vert foncé brillant en été. À l'automne, les feuilles deviennent d'un orange doré brillant, ce qui en fait un arbre remarquable dans tout jardin d'automne. Le hêtre obélisque rouge est un arbre relativement peu exigeant en entretien qui s'adapte à une variété de conditions de sol, y compris les sols argileux et limoneux, et qui est également résistant aux parasites et aux maladies.
