• Watering: Water regularly, especially during the first growing season to establish a deep, extensive root system. Allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings, but do not let it dry out completely
• Maintenance: Keep an eye out for pests and diseases and treat as necessary
• Pruning: Cut back the plant by about one-third in midsummer to encourage bushier growth and more flowers. In the fall, cut back the plant to the ground to prepare for winter
• (Optional):Fertilize in early spring, apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer according to package directions. Alternatively, you can topdress the soil with compost or well-rotted manure in the spring
