DESCRIPTION

Lovely to meet you, my name is Sunkist Arborvitae! Like my name suggests, I am best known for my sunset gold foliage, which retains deep color all year long. In the fall, my foliage shifts from a bright gold to a deeper harvest gold, making me a great choice to help transition your garden's colors from summer to fall. I am low maintenance and very adaptable. I only require pruning to remove new growth and remove dieback, thrive in any type of soil or pH, and am tolerant of urban pollution. I am happiest, healthiest and most beautiful when I am given some sun to soak up throughout the day, and planted in soil that is kept moist and never allowed to dry out.

Care Guide

  • Watering: Water deeply and thoroughly once a week during the growing season (spring and summer).
  • Maintenance: The Sunkist Cedar is a low-maintenance plant that doesn't require much care. Remove any dead or damaged branches as needed throughout the year to maintain the plant's health and appearance
  • Pruning: In season pruning: Light pruning can be done in the spring and summer to shape the plant and remove any unwanted growth. However, avoid heavy pruning during these months, as it can stress the plant. End of season pruning: Prune the plant in late winter or early spring before new growth appears. Cut back any dead or damaged branches and remove any crossed or rubbing branches.
  • (Optional):Fertilizer: The Sunkist Cedar is not a heavy feeder, and may not require additional fertilizer if planted in nutrient-rich soil. If you choose to fertilize, use a balanced fertilizer in early spring and late summer, following the manufacturer's instructions for application.
